Nearly 50 Years of Excellence & Service

Oriental & Area Rug Cleaning & Repair

At HandCraft we use certified trained rug specialists to clean and repair your finest oriental and area rugs. Utilizing the basic elements of air and water, we customize the cleaning process for the needs of each individual rug. With patented tools and equipment designed specifically for the cleaning of oriental and area rugs, we provide a thorough and effective, yet gentle, cleaning process that is powerfully soft. Depending on the particular fibers, dyes, soils and construction of the rug, we will draw from a wide range of cleaning techniques to meet your individual needs.

We will be glad to pick-up and deliver any rug within the Richmond area that measures over 5’x8’ at no additional cost to you!

This service is available Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (please note we are unable to move furniture, but happy to roll your rug.)  For more information or to schedule an appointment, call our Rug Service Coordinator, Brian Salmon, at 804.212.5588, or click here.

Depending on the condition and needs of your rug, the price and turn-around time to clean/restore it may vary. Our turn-around time is typically 7-10 business days. Pet urine and/or odor may delay the return due to the added process that is involved.   Rugs larger than 9’x12’ may take 14+ days as they may take longer to dry. Please keep in mind we clean and repair each rug by hand to ensure proper cleaning and excellence.

Additional rug services such as scotchguarding, pet contamination and deodorizing, rug repairs, fringe replacement, mothproofing, and storage for up to one year is also available. Since these services are more labor intensive, it may increase the turn-around time and price. Rug padding is also available for sale at HandCraft. To find out more about our rug services or to receive a quote, simply text or call our rug manager at 804.212.5588.

Our rug cleaning process is also perfect for removal of pet odors caused by urine. We soak the rug in order to break down the urine salts that cause the odor.  We then immerse the rug to remove all the contaminants. Take a look at our rug cleaning procedure below.
